Army Badges is a long-running iOS and iPadOS reference app showing the cap badges, TRFs (tactical recognition flashes), stable belts, head-dress, medals and neck ties of every current regiment, corps and service of the British Army — together with the flashes of the current divisions and brigades (showing the ORBAT of UKLF) and badges of rank.

Each entry includes the date of formation, motto, HQ, a brief history and role description. The search understands nicknames and descriptive terms — type poachers for the Royal Anglian Regiment, skull for the Royal Lancers, or yellow stripes for every stable belt that has them.

Test yourself across each badge type. Score well enough and you'll be stamped a Subject Matter Expert; less well, and you'll find out. Either way, you can share the result with friends and colleagues.

What's planned

  1. Complete UOTC and medal images. Those left are difficult and typically take around four hours each.
  2. Add ceremonial head-dress and lanyards.
  3. Re-implement in Swift / SwiftUI.

The app is updated regularly to reflect changes in the army's structure. Inevitably there are errors and omissions — feel free to email via the contact page. Copies of images are gratefully received; original versions will be created from them so there are no copyright issues.
